The control system of an Inditherm under-grass heating
system will be designed to meet the unique requirements of each golf course and
to take account of the anticipated ambient conditions and course
layout.
Although a simple manually activated on/off system is an option, Inditherm
highly recommends using a fully integrated automated system providing ground
based telemetry from the course, thereby enabling enhanced course management,
optimum energy consumption and less chance of course closure due to unexpected
cold spells.
Each green or tee can be independently controlled. This is important where it
is necessary to overcome the effects of shadows cast by the trees or cliffs,
which may cause parts of the course to be frozen whilst the remainder remains
frost free. This can also considerably reduce energy consumption.
Telemetry
Inditherm can provide full telemetry for the heating system. This gives
ground staff the ability to monitor ground temperature and moisture conditions
in each tee or green, as well as giving them the ability to control the heating
remotely. Imagine being able to log onto your computer at home and activating
your heating system; or controlling it from anywhere by your mobile 'phone?
Defrost Period
The defrost time of the grass surface will depend upon the ambient
conditions, the course design and the mode of control. Optimum performance is
achieved by running the system in automatic mode, using temperature controls to
maintain the grass in playable condition.
