Inditherm's blood and fluid warming system uses solid state technology to provide ultra-fast warm-up and excellent performance over a wide range of flow rates. The design uses standard, low-cost consumables reducing running costs.

The carbon polymer is combined with a viscoelastic foam pad to give unrivalled heat transfer characteristics. The pliable heating surface provided by the polymer allows it to be placed above the pressure relieving pad, ensuring that there is no attenuation of the warming performance. The combination of these two materials allows the heating surface to mould itself to the shape of each individual patient, giving the largest possible area of contact. The viscoelastic properties ensure that the warming mattress returns to its original flat surface once the patient is removed, ready to be used for the next case. The mattress is encapsulated in a latex-free, nylon fabric cover, with non-microporous polyurethane coating, which is fully sealed with RF welded seams. This unique design ensures that the highest possible thermal transfer characteristics can be achieved, giving the best warming performance available.

Heating Technology

A high thermal transfer, solid-state heat exchanger is used, with black anodised surface, to ensure effective warming of blood and fluids. The heating spiral is contoured for efficient heat transfer and simple, fast insertion of fluid lines. An exceptional heating path length ensures that maximum warming of the fluid is achieved.

Enhanced Warming

NormoTherm XT has an enhanced performance, using a heated sheath to continue warming the blood or fluid between the warming unit and the patient. This is especially important when using low flow rates.

Reliability

The design is robust, ensuring it is suitable for the operating room, emergency room and transport environments. The system has no moving parts making it very reliable. Temperature sensing uses thermistor technology, and therefore does not need regular calibration.

Safety

The patented safety and control system, with three independent temperature sensors, gives complete reliability. The sensor positioning ensures that an accurate measurementof the blood or fluid temperature is achieved under all circumstances. An automatic over-temperature shut-off is provided for added security. The system does not use water or air, and is designed so that it is easy to clean, to help avoid infection risks.
